From Skid Pad Training, to High Speed Maneuvering and Accident Avoidance Exercises – Your Young Driver Will Get the Real World Experience to Help Them Stay Safe and Confident Behind the Wheel.
We’re not here to scare you—we’re here to be honest about why this matters. Traditional driver’s ed doesn’t prepare teens for real emergencies. Without proper training, your teen could panic in a skid, slam the brakes during a storm, or freeze during a tire blowout.
Today’s roads aren’t the place for inexperienced drivers to figure it out. Preparation isn’t optional—it’s the only way to survive the commute.
At Throttle Theory, your teen may come for the cars and the adrenaline, but they leave with the instincts and real-world experience that could save their life.
So when they pull out of the driveway, you don’t have to hold your breath.
Most teens and young drivers aren’t prepared for real-world danger. Throttle Theory teaches what driver’s ed skips – so your teen drives with confidence, and you breathe easier every time they pull out of the driveway.
Throttle Theory is a hands-on driving academy for teens (ages 16–20) led by professional drivers. We teach teens how to control a car under pressure, respond to emergencies, and think fast—on a closed course designed for learning, not guessing.
Each class is approximately 4 hours long. On a Driver Academy day we will run a morning class and then also an afternoon class.
Parents or other family members are always welcome to our driver academy training sessions. Additional non-driver attendants do not have to have a ticket but are asked to adhere to the rules of the driver academy and stay within the designated spectator areas.
The Throttle Theory gift certificate is good for any driver academy event in 2026. As each new driver academy event opens up in 2026 each gift certificate driver academy member will receive notification of a new driver academy, the date, and location. Once received, a student may choose to sign up for the driver academy by going to the buy page and then entering their gift certificate voucher number. That’s it and you’re ready to go.
Driver Academy participants should bring a driver’s license and any release forms or documents that were emailed to them prior to their academy session.
The Driver Academy accommodates young drivers from 16 to 25. If you are under 18 years of age on the day of the training you will need to be accompanied by an adult / guardian.
You can bring lunch and/or snacks but would ask that these items be kept in our common tent area for students and not taken inside our training vehicles with your pro driver.
Our Driver Academy session will occur rain or shine. For days of rain we will have a large tent that will ensure attendees are able to stay out of the elements when they are not in the car with their pro driver.
Each driver academy will be hosted at various locations. On the day of the driver academy event you will be directed to appropriate parking by our staff. Each driver academy is held at some of the most illustrious and well known race tracks in America and as such we take great safety to ensure that you are able to enjoy the experience and learn the important skills to keep you safe and confident behind the wheel.
